In the next few days, if all things go as planned, I will attempt the most significant and daunting journey of my life: kayaking with the Orca. So, with much reservation and fear, I’m beginning to prepare myself to face these large, wild, and unpredictable mammals. I have to admit that I am wishing, actually dreaming, that some act of God will keep me from having to make this perilous trip. A storm would be nice! But what I’m really hoping for is one of those “gut” feelings that Kelly gets when imminent danger is close. I need one of those get-me-off-the-hook moments. Help me Jesus! Anyways, I know this walk of faith will only be strengthened as I embrace this journey of mine. You never know I might just have the time of my life. Please Lord keep me safe, amen….
Mature males reach about 23 feet; females less than 20. Species record is 31.5 feet, much less than the “great whales” which can reach 50 – 90 feet
Orca whales are the ocean’s fastest swimmers, capable of speeds of up to 30 miles per hour.
The good news is their not carnivorous. So even if you get bumped/knocked/hurled/slammed into the ocean they’ll more then likely not eat you.
You have nothing to worry about. Besides you have to make it back by next week to see BSU kick off another season. Skip the kayak…I challenge you to an ocean swim. Just you, your briefs and mysteries beneath. That will blog!
that would soooo blog. i second shane’s challenge to kw. do it big talker…do it.
Possible highlight of vacation:
Krist Wilde, Pacific Ocean, Kayak… and an Orca Whale in a playful mood! I must admit that Krist panicking brings the best kind of laughter out of me.
We can only pray.
Sorry baby, the only inclination I have is screaming “do it!” And good news, I hear the Orcas have been surfacing quite frequently the last couple days!!! You chose the perfect day to do it Babesters… go get em tiger!
